Dec 6, 2000 - 12:28 ET Antrim Energy Inc. Reports Successful Test Results at Rimu B-2, New Zealand

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CDNX.AEN) Antrim Energy Inc. reports successful production tests from the Rimu B-2 appraisal well, PEP 38719 (Antrim 5% working interest), onshore Taranaki Basin, New Zealand.

Rimu B-2, the third well drilled on the permit, flowed at rates up to 1,384 barrels per day of 46-degree API gravity crude oil and 9.4 million cubic feet of natural gas per day with no measurable water. This rate was obtained on a 32/64-inch choke with flowing tubing pressure of 2,389 pounds per square inch (psia). The open hole test included sections of both the Upper Tariki sandstone and the Upper Rimu limestone from 3,421 meters to 3,551 meters.

A decision has been made to move the drilling rig to the fourth drilling location, Rimu A-2. This will test the prospective reservoirs at a bottom hole location approximately 800 meters northeast of the original discovery well Rimu A-1 which tested 1,525 barrels of oil per day and 4.5 million cubic feet of gas per day. The Rimu A-2 appraisal well will be followed by an exploration well, Kauri A-1, to be drilled on the southeastern portion of the 15-km long Rimu structure.

The test results from this latest well, Rimu B-2, confirm the multizone and prolific nature of the Rimu structure.

Other working interests in the Rimu B-2 are Swift Energy New Zealand Ltd. (Operator) 90% and Marabella Enterprises Limited 5%.

Antrim is committed to a strategy of growth through high impact global exploration supported by cash flow from our expanding production base.
