CALGARY, ALBERTA AND LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - July 16, 2007) -

NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION TO U.S. NEWS WIRE SERVICES OR DISSEMINATION IN THE U.S.

Antrim Energy Inc. ("Antrim") (TSX:AEN) (AIM:AEY) today announced that drilling has commenced on the Antrim operated 211/22a-7 well in Central Causeway (Antrim 65.5%) in the UK North Sea. The 22a-7 well is the second of three wells planned for 2007 on Antrim's Causeway property and is located 1 km southwest of the 211/22a-6 discovery announced earlier this month, which tested a combined flow rate of 6,300 barrels of light oil per day.

The drilling operation is expected to take approximately 30 - 40 days, and will target the Middle Jurassic Brent Group of sandstones at a depth of approximately 12,500 ft (3,810m). A decision regarding whether it will be necessary to test the 22a-7 well or case it immediately for future production will be taken based on electric log data once the well has reached target depth.

The third well in the planned program will be drilled immediately following the completion of drilling operations on 22a-7 and is designed to appraise the 211/22a-3 discovery made in 1984 which tested up to 5,500 bopd from the same sequence of Brent sandstones in the southwest fault compartment of the Causeway structure.
